Jowers ran in the 2012 election for Tennessee State Senate District 24. Jowers was defeated by John Stevens in the August 2, 2012, Republican primary. Brad Thompson is running unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Democrat Roy Herron did not seek re-election.[2][3][4]
