Ernest Jones (Utah)

Ernest W. Jones was a Utah Second Judicial District judge for Weber County, Utah.[1] Jones was first appointed to this position by Gov. Michael Leavitt in August 2000. He was retained to six-year terms in 2004, 2010, and 2016.[2][3] Jones retired from the court on March 16, 2021.[4]
Biography
Jones received his J.D. from the University of Utah School of Law in 1974.[2] He worked as Clinton City attorney, for the Utah Attorney General's Office, the Weber County Attorney's Office, and the law firm of Olmstead, Stine and Campbell. He then worked for the Salt Lake County District Attorneys Office from 1980 to 2000.[2]

2016
Utah held retention elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. The filing deadline for sitting judges seeking retention was April 15, 2016. Ernest Jones was retained in the Utah 2nd District Court (Jones Seat) election with 78.59 percent of the vote. [3]
