Campaign themes
2014
Rodriguez's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
A Plan to create Jobs...NOW!
- Excerpt: "I have a real plan to create jobs and stabilize our economy. The federal government has $30 billion in weatherization funding through the stimulus funds program. Nevada is among the most qualified States to receive these funds. The state must aggressively seek these funds to create training programs."
Diversifying and Stabilizing Our Economy
- Excerpt: "We must attract new businesses and industries so we can broaden our tax base. Only then can we begin to fill the gap that exists in our State budget. This can only be achieved by creating unique ways to attract businesses and creating a social structure that will entice them."
- Excerpt: "For instance, we can declare Nevada a free trade zone by lobbying the federal government. This will allow us to be an international trading hub and allow businesses from foreign countries to purchase products without paying a tariff. This will serve to increase our state’s bottom line, diversify our economy and create new, sustainable jobs virtually overnight."
Education at the Top
- Excerpt: "I will oppose a State budget that robs our children of their future. We must take a stand, NOW, to ensure the quality of education at our schools is acceptable. We must train and recruit highly qualified teachers so our children will perform to their greatest potential."
Stimulate the Economy
- Excerpt: "I will put pressure on big banks to loan money to small businesses and Nevadans going through foreclosure. I would also propose funding Community Development Coalitions (CDC’s)."
Supporting Unions for Our Working Men and Women
- Excerpt: "I believe our Unions are the most qualified entities to conduct re-training of unemployed workers. In fact, unions have been conducting this type of training long before it became popular on a global scale. I am proposing that we utilize these training and apprenticeship program dollars to train the workforce of tomorrow."
2012
Rodriguez's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[2]
- Excerpt: "I have always been concerned about fiscal stability, health and the well being of the Great State of Nevada. I believe there are workable solutions available that will enhance job creation, education and promoting the economic well being for all of Nevadans. Through a focused effort on the continued creation and expansion of small businesses, along with support of established industries; I look forward to joining you as we proudly bring Nevada back to glory."
- Excerpt: "For Nevada to reclaim this glory it will be critical for us to support our children and their academic endeavors; it is imperative our children receive the best education and become the brightest leaders of tomorrow!"
