Martinez ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico House of Representatives District 40. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. Martinez was defeated by incumbent Nick L. Salazar (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
