I am the Head of Electrical Engineering at Laser Mechanisms in Novi. My wife Tawn and I moved to Northfield Township in 2015 and are members of Calvary Baptist Church in Whitmore Lake. We are both active in the community. I have served on the Northfield Township Library Board as the secretary since being elected in 2020.
  • My main goal is to keep Northfield Township Area Library a safe place for families, a place where parents do not have to be concerned about the type of material and activities that their children are exposed to.
  • I also want to watch over how the library spends our money. In 2023, the township collected over $600,000 from property taxes for the NTAL. Given the seriousness of the amount collected in tax dollars, it is of utmost importance that every dollar be treated with gratitude and respect for the township's people who have sacrificed to pay for the NTAL. As a trustee, I aim to ensure that the library remains accountable to its community and that every dollar is spent responsibly and transparently.
  • The millage rate for the Northfield Township Area Library in 2024 is 1.1872 mills. A home valued at $400,000 with a taxable value of $200,000 pays $237.44 per year. How much do you pay? How much is the library worth to you?
The greatest challenge facing libraries today is the influence of individuals and groups with non- traditional values and political agendas. Libraries should be a source of information that spans all spectrums but does not promote inappropriate material on children.
I would like everyone to hear the recording from Apollo 8 on Christmas Eve. I was too young to hear it live, but I listened to it in my teens. It helped shape my life, even into today. To me, it represents patriotism, technology, perspective, and spirituality. https://www.nasa.gov/missions/apollo/apollo-8-christmas-at-the-moon/
I gained a lot of experience as the secretary of the library board over the past 4 years. It has been educational and rewarding.
