Gerald L. Vap
Gerald L. Vap was a member of the Nebraska Public Service Commission, representing District 5. Vap, a Republican, was first appointed in 2001 and first elected in November 2004. Vap was most recently elected on November 2, 2010. He served as commission chair in 2004, 2005, 2010, and 2015. Vap filed to run for re-election to another term in 2016, but was narrowly defeated in the Republican primary by Mary Ridder.[1][2]

Vap is a former advisor to the Chief of the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.[3]

Nebraska Public Service Commission (2001-2017)
Vap was appointed to the 5th District of the Nebraska Public Service Commission in 2001 and won election to the position in 2004. He won re-election in 2010. He ran for re-election in 2016, but was defeated in the Republican primary.[1]

Vap filed to run for re-election to the Nebraska Public Service Commission in 2016. A cattle rancher named Mary Ridder filed to run against him in the Republican primary. Ridder narrowly defeated Vap by 57 votes out of over 43,500 votes cast.[2]
