The Hawaii Temporary Appointment of Retired Judges, Amendment C, also known as Amendment C, was on the ballot in Hawaii on November 4, 1986, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment asked whether a chief justice of the Hawaii supreme court is permitted, as needed, to appoint retired judges from intermediate appellate court, the circuit courts, district courts and district family courts to serve as judges in appellate court, the circuit courts, district courts and district family courts respectively.[1]
