Jacinda Santon Smith is an at-large representative on the Mercer County Schools Board of Education in West Virginia. She was first appointed to the board in March 2016.[1] Smith won another term in the general election on November 8, 2016.[2][3]

Smith is a lifelong resident of Mercer County. She has served with the district's Calendar Committee and Local School Improvement Council (LSIC), and she served as an officer of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Smith also serves on the board of governors of the Chuck Mathena Center, the executive committee for the Jonathan Powell Hope Foundation, and the Dr. Beryle Santon Scholarship Committee at Concord University. She is a graduate of the Wake Forest University Babcock Graduate School of Management and School of Business. She and her husband have one daughter.[1]

One seat on the Mercer County Schools Board of Education was up for special election on November 8, 2016. In her bid for re-election, appointed incumbent Jacinda Santon Smith defeated newcomer M.C. "Skip" Crane Jr. and former member Gregory Prudich to win another term.[2][4][3]
