James M. Owen

James M. Owen was an associate judge of the 30th Judicial Circuit Court in Missouri. He was appointed by Governor Jay Nixon on January 15, 2014, to fill the seat of retiring Judge Donald Cheever.[1]
He was defeated in the 2014 election and stepped down from the court at the end of his term.[2]
Education
Owen received his undergraduate degree from Drury University and his J.D. from the University of Kansas.[1]

Before he became a judge, Owen was an attorney with Hosmer King and Royce LLC.[1]

Primary: He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 5, 2014.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 36.7 percent of the vote. He competed against David T. Tunnell.

Owen ran in the 2012 election for Missouri House of Representatives, District 134. Owen ran unopposed in the August 7 Democratic primary and was defeated by Elijah Haahr (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4]
