Biography
Barbian received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and her master's degree in curriculum and instruction from National Lewis University. Her professional experience includes working as an EL instructional and educator effectiveness coach, an EL reading and language arts coordinator, and a teacher.[1]

Three of the nine seats on the Racine Unified School District Board of Education in Wisconsin were up for by-district general election on April 3, 2018. District 5 incumbent Steven Hooper did not file for re-election, leaving the seat open. Jane Barbian was the only candidate to file for the District 5 seat and ran unopposed.
