Campaign themes
2014
York explained his reasons for running in 2014 on a questionnaire issued by the district:
“ |
1. I want to insure safety of all students, to and from our campuses and facilities. Along with safety of all teachers and administration. As well as decreasing students time on a bus to and from school. Too many students spend too much time on buses. 2. Be a part of cleaning up the past. It is public knowledge of some activities in the past that appears to be unethical. I have rolled up my sleeves and been a part of bringing information to the staff. We need to continue to put policies and procedures in place to make sure business of the past will not be business of the future. Being a part of Comal Cleanup! That is what we're doing! 3. Continue the process with curriculum and instruction. Alot [sic] of positive changes have taken place, but we have more to go. We need to make sure all students have the best opportunity at a quality education and prepare all students for their future. Whether that means college, learning a trade, joining the military of entering the workforce. 4. I have been and want to continue to be a part of fixing our teacher pay! We have an opportunity to do something great for our teachers, we can do something great! Not overnight but we are looking at ways to improve the overall pay structure and scale. I know we can do this and it is important to me. 5. Final top goal is to continue to find ways to embrace our growth, being proactive and fiscally responsible. Keeping the current tax rate, or even lowering it, while paying existing debt down and making sure we keep up with our growth. We need more schools, we need them in the right place and we need them with the right teachers and staff. |
