Bassford has worked as a co-owner of JSK Landscaping and Construction. She has also served part-time as a senior parent consultant for the Association for Special Children and Families (ASCF), a nonprofit, and volunteered with Clifton Against Substance Abuse (CASA), Clifton Residents on Call (CROC), Project Graduation, and Red Hat Angel.[1]

Three of the nine seats on the Clifton Public Schools school board in New Jersey were up for at-large general election on November 7, 2017. Incumbents Judith A. Bassford and Lucy Danny and former candidate Frank Kasper defeated newcomer Andrew White to secure the three board seats.[2]
