Lawsuit filed against the Army Corps of Engineers
February 12, 2010
Arkansas: The Sierra Club, National Audubon Society and Audubon Arkansas have filed a federal lawsuit against the Army Corps of Engineers in attempt to halt the construction of a $1.6 billion coal-fired power plant plant being built by Southwestern Electric Power Co., a unit of American Electric Power. The suit alleges that the Army violated various environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, when it issued the permit to build.[1]
