My name is Lindley McCrary, and I am seeking re-election as School Board Director in Littleton Public Schools. As a current Director, parent to two LPS students and active volunteer in my community, I want to continue to foster the legacy of Littleton Public Schools. I am a proud product of public education in LPS, and I believe in the value of a strong public education system, which provides equity and the opportunity for all students to succeed. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Association of School Boards, and am the current President-Elect of the organization. In addition, I am a member of the Advisory Board for the Colorado School Safety Resource Center. For the past four years, I have poured my heart and soul into LPS, and plan to continue to work with the same level of commitment in my second term on the Board of Education.
  • ALL students should have an equitable and safe learning environment.
  • I am committed to ensuring that teachers and staff are valued and supported.
  • As LPS is a recipient of public funds, I am committed to ensuring the ongoing financial health of the district by navigating future funding challenges in a clear and transparent manner.
I am passionate about the funding of public education in the State of Colorado. Colorado is consistently ranked in the bottom third in the United States in funding for public education. Since 2009, the Budget Stabilization Factor has removed over $10 billion from K-12 funding, over $160 million in LPS alone. We currently have legislators who are dedicated to improving funding, and I am looking forward to partnering with them in the years to come.

Any policy or legislation that comes forward with an impact to public education interests me, and I am dedicated to ensuring that accurate data and potential impacts are shared with legislators, to help elevate the voice of LPS and K-12 in Colorado, and to partner with our legislators for meaningful, productive legislation.
As a Director on a local Board of Education, it is absolutely imperative that both political affiliation and personal ego be checked at the door of the board room. This is a non-partisan election, and a non-partisan job. When a Board of Education is dysfunctional, the primary ones who suffer are the students, and nothing will make a board dysfunctional faster than the introduction of political ties and affiliation in the board room.

The work of a board requires a very thoughtful and measured approach to debate and decision making. The board is, for the most part, making decisions that have a long lasting impact on the district, and it is important to be thorough in the evaluation process.

I also know that it is incredibly important to be accessible and available to speak to your constituents, which I have done over the past four years.
The legacy that I would like to leave is that I am a leader who was willing to lean in and really listen to our students. I spearheaded work in Littleton Public Schools to elevate student voice to the Board of Education, which led to very successful student voice workshops in all of our high schools and alternative programs. I look forward to growing and expanding that work in my second term. I believe strongly that if we continue to keep students at the forefront of the work, it will always lead us in the right direction.
The primary job of a school board member is to oversee policy, the budget, and the overall direction of the district. The superintendent is hired by the Board of Education, and is the board's sole employee. All of the day-to-day operations within the district fall under the purview of the superintendent, and the board should stay out of that work, unless circumstances necessitate board involvement. The board also has a responsibility to be a conduit of information to the community that elects them, and who they represent.
I am incredibly proud of the work we have done in Littleton Public Schools to provide both innovative programming and concurrent enrollment opportunities for our students. In the fall of 2023, we opened the new EPIC Campus:https://littletonpublicschools.net/schools/epiccampus. Students are able to not only explore the six different educational pathways available at EPIC, but they can also earn certification in many areas, earn college credits, and can graduate with a meaningful post-secondary opportunity of their choosing, whether that is college, entering the workforce, military service, etc. As the co-chair of the committee behind the successful passage of the 2018 bond issue in LPS, it has been incredibly fulfilling to see those dollars go to a space as impactful and incredible as our EPIC Campus. The sky is the limit for our students, and I have championed this work from the beginning.
All of the endorsements that I have received have come from within the LPS community. This includes the former superintendent, former LPS board members, former LPS educators, former LPS administrators, parents, former LPS students and community members. I believe strongly that local support is critical to the success of any district, and that it is key to keep outside influences away from any local election.
