Campaign themes
2015
In an interview with KCHispanicNews.com, Ysaac stated her desire to provide a voice for and connection with district parents whose first language was not English. She said she hoped to provide access to technology that would help such parents teach their children to read in both their first language and English. Ysaac also stated that she wanted to focus on budget cuts that had been made to school programs, including the district's Sumner Academy.[1]
Ysaac also commented on representing Latino voices in local politics, saying:
“ | Running for the school board is a natural progression of what I have been doing as a community activist. I have been involved with other candidates campaigns and enjoyed it. I think it is very important that we participate in the political process. I am just finding my political voice. I have always been a person who supported issues that would help our teachers empower our students with the knowledge and technology they need to move ahead and help our students reach their dreams.[10] | ” |
