Mark S. Wernick was a Fourth Judicial District judge for Hennepin County, Minnesota. He was appointed to this position in 2002. He was elected to a full term in 2004 and has served as the presiding judge of the criminal division since July 2008. He retired in July 2014.[1][2]

Education

Wernick received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1972 and his J.D. degree from the Drake University Law School in 1975.[1]

Career

Wernick began his legal career in 1975 as an assistant Hennepin County public defender. He began his own law practice, under the title of Wernick Law Office, in 1977. In 1985, he became a partner of the firm Mauzy & Wernick, where he worked until 1987, when he returned to his solo practice. In 2002, he was appointed to the district court.[1]

2010 election

Wernick was re-elected to the district court after running unopposed.[3]
