Why Run??? Albemarle schools are great for many students. Yet, the number of families requiring free and reduced lunch is increasing. Success in our schools does not mean most of our graduates are practiced or knowledgeable at getting ahead financially. Many do not know how to pay themselves first, save for the long term, accumulate wealth, or improve property for their benefit. This is vitally important for success and the pursuit of happiness. Some of our students do, they learn it at home by the daily habits and activities of their parents. Our schools focus on teaching students to be life-long learners, but not how to succeed financially so they may take care of themselves and their families. Many of our students do not learn the basics to get ahead financially. Albemarle County is rich with people who know how to improve property, accumulate stocks, create intellectual property through written material and music, and more. Let us teach our students what these people know. Let us motivate students with the possibility of living better than we have before. I want to support the teachers and the families of Albemarle County. On the school board, We will provide direction and goals to the school administration. We will reward successful accomplishment of the goals. We will reward teachers and staff for learning new skills needed to teach these financial concepts, and, for innovations in presenting them to our students. All of our students will come out of school practiced at budgeting their money and knowledgeable in ways to save money and accumulate property, no matter their job desires. It is difficult for teachers to feel valued and paid their worth when your employer wastes money and material by replacing and discarding useful school furniture after a year of use. It is difficult for families in the county to support our school administration when this is one way they spend our money. The next priority is to focus on cost savings in our school departments. We will incentivize cost reductions and savings and reward those who speak up and help in this regard. It must be OK for our school personnel to speak out. I want transparency from our school administration and direction for our schools to come from the community, through the school board. That is why I am running. [7] |
