Michael J. Obus

Michael J. Obus was an acting justice for the New York County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the 1st Judicial District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 1993. He began serving as an administrative judge of this court in 2008.[1][2]
Education
Obus received his B.A. degree from Rutgers University in 1970 and his J.D. degree from the Columbia University School of Law in 1973.[1]
Career
Obus began his career in 1973 working for The Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, NY. He served there as a staff attorney (1973-1976), a Deputy Appeals Bureau Chief (1977-1978), and an Appeals Bureau Chief (1979-1986). In 1986, he was appointed judge of the New York City Criminal Court. He served on this court until 2005. In 1993, he began serving as an acting justice of the New York County Supreme Court.[1]
