Ostrander resides in Middletown Township, New Jersey. Ostrander earned his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University.[1] He is employed as a consultant with the treasury and capital markets division of Deloitte & Touche, and he also serves as a part-time instructor at the Rutgers Graduate School of Business in the Department of Finance and Economics.[2][3]

In response to a survey conducted by The Hub Independent, Ostrander argued that the following were the most significant issues confronting the school district:[2]

Many issues face the Board of Education, such as keeping the quality of education high while containing costs, improving infrastructure and class sizes, maintaining paraprofessionals and the Common Core guidelines. All of these issues serve to remind us that intelligent, respectful and resourceful leadership is needed if we are to keep the quality of education high for all children while protecting the taxpayers. More importantly, everyone needs their voice to be heard.
