Campaign themes

2013

In response to a survey conducted by The Hub Independent, Aveta provided the following themes for his 2013 campaign:

During my tenure as chairman of the finance committee, tax increases with respect to the Board of Education budget were 1.3 percent, .98 percent and 1 percent, respectively, for the past three years. Even with these modest property tax increases, the board was able to fund new capital projects. The board has also successfully settled the contracts of all major bargaining units over the past three years. We collaborated on the construction of two state-of-the-art athletic facilities, and a third facility is scheduled for construction. I would continue moving forward with a particular emphasis on increasing technology, improving test scores and continuing to improve district facilities.[12]
