The Minnesota Simplify Taxing Provisions Amendment, also known as Amendment 1, was on the November 4, 1902 ballot in Minnesota as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was defeated. The measure would have simplified the taxing provisions of the Constitution.[1]

Although the measure gathered more "yes" votes than "no" votes, Minnesota requires that the majority of all voters vote "yes" in order to pass an amendment. In 1902, there were 276,071 total voters, requiring a vote of at least 138,036 to pass a measure.
