Nelson W. Rupp, Jr. is an associate judge on the Sixth Circuit Court for Montgomery County in Maryland. He has served as a judge on the court since January 17, 1997.[1][2] Rupp ran for re-election to the 6th Circuit Court in 2014, winning a new term expiring on December 31, 2029.[3][4]

Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on June 24, 2014, receiving 20.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Judge Audrey A. Creighton, Judge Gary Eugene Bair, Judge Joan E. Ryon, and Daniel Patrick Connell. Rupp cross-filed as a Democrat and received 19.4% of the vote in that primary. Primary candidates competed for 4 seats. 
General: He faced Judge Audrey A. Creighton, Judge Gary Eugene Bair, Judge Joan E. Ryon, and Daniel Patrick Connell in the general election on November 4, 2014, and won with 20.0 percent of the vote. Candidates competed for four open seats.Rupp's re-election was supported by the Committee to Retain the Sitting Judges of Montgomery County, Maryland.[3][5][6]

Rupp received his undergraduate degree from Denison University in 1970 and his J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law in 1974.[1]
