I am Othman Riad, a dedicated resident of Mountlake Terrace with a strong commitment to our community. I have served as a DEI commissioner with the city of Lynnwood, where I worked to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, I coach kids under 7 soccer at Terrace Brier Club, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship among our youngest residents. Although I haven't held public office before, my experiences have equipped me with valuable skills in leadership, collaboration, and community engagement. I am passionate about making a positive impact and ensuring that Mountlake Terrace continues to be a great place to live.
  • Economic Development: I am committed to fostering economic growth in Mountlake Terrace by supporting local businesses and attracting new investments. By creating a vibrant and diverse economy, we can ensure job opportunities and a prosperous future for all residents.
  • Housing Affordability: Ensuring that everyone has access to affordable housing is a top priority. I will work to implement policies that increase the availability of affordable housing options, support first-time homebuyers, and protect renters. Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home.
  • Public Safety: The safety of our community is paramount. I am dedicated to enhancing public safety by ensuring our police and emergency services have the resources they need to protect and serve our residents. I will also promote community policing initiatives to build trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the community.
I am deeply passionate about economic development, housing affordability, and public safety. I believe that fostering a strong local economy is essential for the prosperity of our community. Ensuring that everyone has access to affordable housing is a fundamental right, and I am committed to implementing policies that make this a reality. Additionally, public safety is a top priority, and I will work to ensure that our law enforcement and emergency services have the resources they need to keep our community safe.
Integrity, transparency, and a commitment to public service are essential characteristics for an elected official. It's important to be honest and open with constituents, make decisions based on the best interests of the community, and remain dedicated to serving the public good
I would like to leave a legacy of positive change and community empowerment. My goal is to create a Mountlake Terrace where everyone feels valued, heard, and supported. I want to be remembered as someone who worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life for all residents, fostered a sense of unity and inclusion, and implemented sustainable policies that benefit future generations. Ultimately, I hope my efforts will inspire others to get involved and continue building a vibrant, thriving community.
