Renee A. White was an acting justice for the New York County Supreme Court, Criminal Term in the 1st Judicial District of New York. She was appointed to this position in 1988. She is also a judge of the New York City Criminal Court.[1][2]

Education

White received her B.A. degree from Hofstra University in 1966 and her J.D. degree from the Brooklyn School of Law in 1969.[1]

Career

White began her career in 1969 as a trial attorney for the Legal Aid Society. She then worked from 1974 to 1978 as the Attorney-in-Charge of the Criminal Justice Section of the Office of Project Development's Indigent Defendants Legal Panel. She also served as an adjunct professor at Delaware Law School (1974-1975) and a teaching assistant at the Practicing Law Institute (1976-1978). From 1978 to 1984, she served as an administrative law judge for the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings.

White's first judicial appointment was to the New York City Civil Court in 1984. The following year, she was appointed to the New York City Criminal Court. She was reappointed to this court in 1988, 1998 and 2008 and served as the supervising judge in 1988 and 1989. Since 1988, she has been an acting justice of the New York County Supreme Court.[1]
