Robert Carter (Indiana)
Robert Carter, Jr. is the former Director of Natural Resources in Indiana. He was first appointed by Gov. Mitch Daniels (D) and officially assumed the role in 2006.
Carter was succeeded as head of the state Department of Natural Resources by Cameron Clark. Clark was appointed director by Governor Mike Pence in May 2013.[1]
Biography
Carter spent most of his career with the Clay County Sheriff's Department. He first joined the department in 1989 and was appointed chief deputy in 1996. In 1998. He was elected Sheriff and re-elected in 2002. In 2005, Gov. Mitch Daniels (R) appointed Carter to head the Department of Natural Resources.[2] Carter was also Indiana’s State Historic Preservation Officer and chairman of the Review Board.[3][4]
