Robert J. Egan is a judge of the Florida 9th Circuit Court. He assumed office on August 15, 2008. His current term ends on January 2, 2029.

Egan won re-election for judge of the Florida 9th Circuit Court outright in the general election on November 8, 2022, after the primary and general election were canceled.

Egan was appointed to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court by Gov. Charlie Crist in June 2008 to replace Judge Jay Cohen.[1][2][3][4][5]

Biography

Egan received his B.A. degree (in political science) from Mercer University in 1986 and his J.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 1992. He has also served in the U.S. Army.[2][6]

Career

Egan worked as a private practice lawyer in Central Florida for 15 years before becoming a judge. In 2000, he co-founded the Law Offices of Leon & Egan, where he practiced until his appointment to the circuit court in 2008.[2]

The general election was canceled. Robert J. Egan (Nonpartisan) won without appearing on the ballot.

2016

Florida's 20 circuit courts all had seats up for election in 2016. Of the 151 seats up for election, 125 saw only one candidate file for the election. The unopposed races were canceled and the sole candidates were automatically elected. Of the 26 opposed races, only 10 saw more than two candidates file. [7]
