Ruth Noemí Colón
Ruth Noemí Colón (born in Puerto Rico) was the Secretary of State for New York. She was named as Acting Secretary under the administration of Democratic Governor David Paterson on Wednesday, September 1st, 2010 following the resignation of Lorraine Cortes-Vazquez, who left to pursue a career in the private sector.[1]

Political career
Prior to joining the New York State Department, Colón served as the Deputy Director of Communications for the New York City Housing Authority and was the acting liaison to Mayor of New York City on issues concerning the Latino community. She joined the New York Department of State in 2006, acting in a number of administrative roles, including, most recently, as Special Counsel to then-Secretary Cortés-Vázquez.

Colón currently resides in White Plains, New York with her husband, Gerson Borrero, the former editor-in-chief of El Diario La Prensa, New York City's largest and oldest Spanish-language newspaper. The couple has had two children together.
