I am the proud parent of 3 kids who all attend the Telluride School District - 2 at TIS and 1 at TES. My professional background has been about identifying and building exceptionally-run organizations. I ran a data center business for eight years before moving to Telluride. Now I invest in and mentor entrepreneurs – mostly recent graduates of Stanford and Harvard business schools – to acquire and run their own businesses. I also serve as a board member for five of these companies. The areas I work most with these companies is: setting aggressive goals, prioritizing the right activities to achieve those goals, attracting great team members, and keeping your team motivated and happy. These are areas where I’ve been working with the school board and hope to continue making positive improvements.
  • My primary motivation to run for another term is to give back to Telluride. I love this community and feel grateful to be able to raise our kids here. I want to be a contributing member of the Telluride community. More specifically, I think my experience has been valuable to the district’s administration to improve the outcomes for our kids. I see lots of opportunities for me to continue making a positive impact.
  • I don’t have any agenda. I just want to work collaboratively with the rest of the board and the district team to do what’s best for the kids.
  • It’s all about the kids. The district is focused on exceeding academic growth targets for each student in addition to producing happy, productive members of the community. In order to achieve this, the district needs to attract, retain, and grow a great team - especially teachers. We need to continue to improve the pay for our teachers. We also need to pass the new bond measure in November to provide funds for workforce housing, so we can hire the next generation of teachers to educate our kids.
This will sound super cheesy, but I'm passionate about creating a better learning environment for our kids and consequently a better community. I love the mantra of: change lives, change organizations, change the world. The Telluride School District is currently ranked as the #2 district in all of Colorado. There’s a lot to be proud of. But we can always be better. I’m hopeful to have the opportunity to continue working closely with the board and the leadership team to focus on the areas where we can see the greatest positive impacts on the kids of Telluride.
