May 2, 2018: There is a wide racial divide among Democrats when it comes to belief in the God of the Bible. Just 32% of white Democrats believe in the God of the Bible. However, the Pew Research Center reports that 61% of non-white Democrats hold such faith.[1]

There is a similar political divide between white Democrats and white Republicans. Seventy-two percent (72%) of white Republicans believe in the God of the Bible.

At the other extreme, only 5% of white Republicans do not believe in any kind of God or higher power. Among white Democrats, that figure is 21%.

In between are people who believe in a god or higher power, but not the God of the Bible. That’s the view held by nearly half of all Democrats (45%).
