Stalewski earned a bachelor's degree in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in 1980 and an MBA from Keller Graduate School in Lake Forest, Ill. in 1991. At the time of her tenure, Stalewski was serving as a clinical associate professor and director of distance education at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee College of Health Sciences.
