Tom Rugg, Sr.
Tom Rugg, Sr. was the judge of the 58th District Court in Texas. He was appointed by Governor Rick Perry on April 3, 2014, and his term expired in December 2014.[1] He was defeated in the 2014 general election.[2]
Education
Rugg earned a bachelor's degree from Lamar University, going on to receive his J.D. from the University of Texas Law School.[1]
Career
Prior to his judicial appointment in 2014, Rugg was a private practice attorney. He previously worked as the chief prosecutor of the civil division of the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.[1]

Primary: He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 44.3 percent of the vote. He competed against Kent Walston.
