Vidya Gangadin was an at-large member of the Jersey City Public Schools Board of Education in New Jersey. Gangadin assumed office in 2012. Gangadin left office in 2018.

Gangadin ran for re-election for an at-large seat of the Jersey City Public Schools Board of Education in New Jersey. Gangadin lost in the general election on November 6, 2018.

In 2015, Gangadin ran as part of a candidate slate called "Education Matters" with incumbent Marilyn Roman and challenger John Reichart.[1] All three members of the slate won election to the board.[2]

Opposition

Three of the nine seats on the Jersey City Public Schools Board of Education were up for general election on November 3, 2015. The election was held at large.[3] The seats of incumbents Marilyn Roman, Vidya Gangadin and Sangeeta Ranade were on the ballot.[4]

Ranade did not file to run for re-election, guaranteeing at least one new member would join the board. Roman and Gangadin won re-election, while John Reichart joined the board. They defeated challenger Gina Verdibello.[2][5] Gangadin, Roman and Reichart ran together as a slate called "Education Matters."[6]

Gangadin ran as part of the "Education Matters" slate, which reported $20,649.00 in contributions and $3,864.59 in expenditures to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission in the election.[7]

The first campaign finance reporting deadline was October 5, 2015. Candidates had to file another report on October 23, 2015, and the last report was due November 23, 2015.[8]
