Barry served as the New Hampshire Commissioner of Education from June 1, 2009, to January 30, 2017.[1] The New Hampshire Executive Council unanimously confirmed Gov. John Lynch’s nomination to the position. Barry was reappointed to a second four-year term on March 20, 2013. She resigned effective January 30, 2017.[1][2]

She brings to the position leadership experience across the educational levels, knowledge of the state’s educational opportunities, and an energy and intelligence that will serve New Hampshire well.”[4]
