Four seats on the Warrick County School Corporation Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014.[1] At-large incumbents Thomas L. Welch, Candace S. Nance, James D. Eifler and Dorothy L. Kroeger defeated challengers Mike Maday, John Greenwell and Patricia R. King.[2]

Warrick County School Corporation is located in Warrick County, Indiana. The county seat of Warrick County is Boonville. Warrick County was home to 61,049 residents in 2013, according to the United States Census Bureau.[3] During the 2011-2012 school year, Warrick County School Corporation was the 24th-largest school district by enrollment in Indiana and served 9,924 students.[4]

Demographics

Warrick County outperformed the rest of Indiana in terms of higher education achievement in 2012. The United States Census Bureau found that 26.8 percent of Warrick County residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 23.0 percent for Indiana as a whole. The median household income for Warrick County was $61,948 compared to $48,374 for the entire state. The percentage of people below poverty level for Warrick County was 9.4 percent compared to 14.7 percent statewide.[3]

Method of school board selection

The Warrick County School Corporation consists of seven members elected to four-year terms. There was no primary election, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014. Four seats were up for election in 2014.[1][7]

In order to get on the ballot, school board candidates had to file a petition of nomination with the Warrick County Election Board during the nomination period, which began July 23, 2014, and ended August 22, 2014.[8] Voters had to register by October 6, 2014, in order to vote in the election.[9]
