On his campaign website Terwort listed his position on the following five issues:[1]
- Abortion: "I am a 100 percent pro-life, and as your State Senator I will always fight to defend traditional values."[1]
- Taxes and Spending: "I am the only candidate in this race who has a political record of increasing transparency in government, stopping proposed tax increases, and cutting wasteful spending. As your State Senator, I will continue to fight for lower taxes, less government and fiscal responsibility."[1]
- Economic Development: "I support a flat sales tax that exempts food and shelter, which will entice businesses to move to Kentucky and bring jobs. We also need to reduce the unnecessary regulations on small businesses."[1]
- Casino Gambling: "Kenton County voters should have an opportunity to vote on a constitutional amendment on expanded gaming. I will only support a local option provision that allows citizens of a county to vote to opt in or opt out of expanded gaming."[1]
- Pension Reform: "Kentucky needs to makes changes in its pension system by changing from a “defined benefit” plan to a “defined contribution” plan, like the private sector. We need to end double dipping and stop the practice by legislators of abusing the system to substantially increase their pensions."[1]
