Wendy Avila is a judge of the Superior Court of Kern County in California. She assumed office in 2020. Her current term ends on January 8, 2029.

Avila won re-election for judge of the Superior Court of Kern County in California outright in the primary on June 7, 2022, after the primary and general election were canceled.

Governor Gavin Newsom (D) appointed her to the court on December 8, 2020, to replace Steven M. Katz. Avila is the first Latina to be appointed to a seat on the Kern County Superior Court. [1]

Although California Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan elections, a press release from Gov. Newsom's office announcing Avila's appointment identified her as a Democrat.[1]
