The Hawaii judicial elections of 2010 consisted of a retention election. In Hawaii, appellate court and circuit court judges are appointed by the governor from a list of names submitted by a judicial selection committee. The chief justice appoints district and family court judges. Appointments must be confirmed by the senate. When their terms expire, judges can be retained with a vote of the judicial selection commission.
