Pope (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for the Judicial District 28 judge of the North Carolina 5th Superior Court Division. He won in the general election on November 6, 2018.
Pope was initially a superior court judge for the 28th Judicial District of the Eighth Division of the Superior Court. He was first elected in 2010.

Superior court judges rotate among the districts within their division every six months.[1] However, superior court judges are elected by voters in their district and must reside in the district in which they are elected.[2]

Pope graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in 1970 and the Wake Forest University School of Law in 1973.[3]
