Robert James Gignac was an at-large representative on the Lowell School Committee in Massachusetts. He was elected to the board in the general election on November 3, 2015, and he served until January 2018 as he did not file to run for another term in the general election on November 7, 2017.[1]

Gignac graduated from Lowell High School before earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell in 2011.[2][3] For nearly two years, Gignac served as the Commissioner of the City of Lowell Taxi & Livery Commission.[3] He has also worked as a staff accountant for the Career Center of Lowell.[3] Gignac also served as a member of the Lowell Telecommunications Corporation board of directors.[3]

Six of the seven seats on the Lowell School Committee were up for election on November 3, 2015. All six seats were at-large and voted on by eligible voters in Lowell. The seventh seat was held by the city's mayor, but was not covered by Ballotpedia.[4]

Incumbents Stephen J. Gendron and Connie A. Martin won re-election, while newcomers Jackie Doherty, Robert J. Hoey Jr., Robert James Gignac, and Andre Descoteaux joined the board. They defeated challengers Patrick William Farmer, Kamara Kay, Dominik Hok Y Lay, Dennis R. Mercier, Benjamin T. Opara, and Christopher N. Roux. Gendron and Martin were the only incumbents to file for re-election.[5]
