Attorneys recommended for Superior Court seat

Washington, D.C.: Out of the 20 who applied for an opening on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, the District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission has recommended three to President Barack Obama. The three recommended are public sector attorneys Maria-Claudia Amato, Rainey Brandt and Jason Tulley.

Maria-Claudia Amato is the General Counsel for the District of Columbia Department of Corrections, Rainey Brandt is Special Counsel to the Chief Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and Jason D. Tulley is Special Counsel to the Director of the Public Defender Service of the District of Columbia.[1]

The seat on the court is open due to the retirement of Joan Zeldon in December of 2011. The White House has 60 days to consider the recommendations and make an appointment to the court.[2]
