John J. Houston (New Jersey)
John J. Houston is a former at-large representative on the Clifton Board of Education in New Jersey. He was first elected to the board in 2012. Houston sought another term in the general election on November 3, 2015.[1] Houston lost the election.
Biography
Houston earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Scranton. He later received a master's degree from Mt. St. Mary's University and a master's degree and Ph.D. from Fordham University. Houston is the associate dean of graduate education at Fordham University. He has two children who have attended district schools.[2]

Four of the nine seats on the Clifton Public Schools Board of Education were up for election on November 3, 2015. The seats of at-large incumbents Tafari Anderson, James Daley and John Houston were up for regularly scheduled elections. Anderson, Daley and Lawrence Grasso defeated Jaime Placek and Latasha Casterlow-Lalla for these seats.
The fourth seat on the ballot was up for special election to fill a one-year unexpired term created by Wayne Demikoff's removal from the board in February 2015. Houston ran for election to the unexpired term rather than a full three-year term. Michael Evans defeated Houston and Bharat Rana for the one-year term.[3]
