Ian K. Thornhill is a district judge of Iowa District 6. He was appointed to this position in 2009. Thornhill was retained to a full six-year term in the 2010 general election. He was retained again in the general election on November 8, 2016.[1][2]
Biography
Thornhill earned his B.B.A., M.B.A., and J.D. from the University of Iowa in 1989, 1991, and 1998, respectively.[1]
Before joining the bench, he served as an assistant U.S. attorney from 2002 to 2009. Thornhill was also an active duty attorney for the U.S. Navy from 1998 to 2002 then a reserve attorney. He deployed to Iraq from November 2007 to May 2008 as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.[1]
