William F. Brooks is a district court judge for the 23rd Judicial District, which presides over Alleghany, Ashe, Wilkes and Yadkin counties of North Carolina. Brooks was appointed to the court by Governor Pat McCrory on September 6, 2013, to fill the vacancy created by the death of Judge Mitchell L. McLean.[1] He was re-elected to the 23rd Judicial District in 2014, winning a full term that expires on December 31, 2018.[2][3]

Education

Brooks received his undergraduate degree from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 1975 and his J.D. from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 1980.[1]

Career

Before his appointment to the court, Brooks practiced law in Wilkes County for thirty-three years.[1]
