I love Orem and Lindon schools. Our parents, teachers, and students matter, and I represent you.

Schools are not just buildings; they are the heart of our community, shaping future generations and nurturing dreams. I am deeply committed to building a stronger school district by listening to the needs and concerns of the community. I am against reducing the number of programs and closing schools that can be utilized in improving the education of students.

I am passionate about fostering creativity and balancing childhood development through preserving arts and physical education programs in our schools. I firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to explore their talents and reach their full potential, irrespective of their background or interests. A comfortable yet challenging education provides youth the freedom to explore new subjects while ensuring the safety needed in childhood.
  • Students Succeed when their Schools Stay Open:

Orem is currently in chaos from all of the school closures and from the proposed closures. Our community was built to have small, walkable schools that we love and appreciate. We have a fully built out infrastructure that isn't meant for bus routes or a large number of parent drop-offs and pick-ups. We need a voice for our small Orem schools.

Every child deserves the opportunity to attend a school that fosters their growth, creativity, and academic achievement. However, if a school must be replaced or closed, there must be a clear, thoughtful plan in place to ensure that students and families have the support they need during the transition, and that no student’s education is disrupted.
  • Students Succeed with Specialty Programs: Specialty programs such as Accelerated Learning Lab (ALL), Dual Language Immersion (DLI), arts, music, physical education, and media are essential to fostering creativity and personal growth in our students. As a trained singer with a degree in Theater Studies and a professional graphic designer, these programs literally shaped my life. Orem, with its rich diversity, is home to many of these important programs, including nine DLI schools offering Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese. It’s critical that we keep these programs open and well-supported to ensure that every student has the opportunity to explore their unique talents.
  • Students succeed with valued teachers and community involvement: Students succeed when their teachers and principals are valued, supported, and given the resources they need to excel. Both teachers and principals play a crucial role in shaping our children’s futures, and when they feel appreciated and empowered, they are better equipped to lead, inspire, and guide students. As your representative, I will prioritize making sure both teachers and principals have the support they need. Students thrive when their communities are actively involved in both their education and safety. We are fortunate to have a community that deeply cares about our schools, and this involvement plays a vital role in supporting our students.
I am passionate about keeping our school communities healthy and open as much as possible. There is too much chaos here in Orem and I would like to foster solutions for our teachers, students and community.
We must ensure that our special programs have all the support necessary to thrive. Every student should have access to all specialty classes as well as DLI, ALL and SPED programs. These programs need extra support and I will advocate for them.
I look up to my grandmothers. They were both teachers and community volunteers who built a beautiful legacy for me to follow.
Integrity and empathy are two pillars of public service. I believe we should be the same in public as we are in private.
School boards pass budgets, curriculum, and policies with community and school district input. They provide citizen governance in our public schools.
I remember the fall of the Soviet Union, in school learning about it becoming Russia again. It got a bit confusing as a kid having a whole big country go through a name change.
I delivered newspapers growing up as a kid in Indiana in the '90s. It was a tough job that taught me work ethic and grit.
A school board representative serves as a vital bridge between the public and the public school system. Their primary responsibility is to represent the interests and needs of their community while working to make informed decisions that benefit the district as a whole. Transparency is key to this role—families and community members deserve to understand why decisions are being made and how they will impact every student in the district. Open communication ensures accountability and fosters trust between the board and the public.

In our large and diverse district, there is a wide range of needs, from the unique challenges faced by small schools to the resources required by larger ones. I believe a school board member’s duty is to advocate for every student, ensuring that all schools—regardless of size or location—receive the support they need to help students succeed. I am committed to being a strong voice for Orem and Lindon, advocating for the interests of our small schools while contributing to the broader vision of educational excellence across the district.

Ultimately, the role of a school board member is to work collaboratively with fellow board members, administrators, and the community to ensure that every decision reflects the shared goals of improving education, supporting teachers, and enhancing student outcomes. I will work to ensure that the needs of Orem and Lindon are heard and addressed in the district’s long-term planning and policies.
Right now we are seeing programs losing support and therefore getting squeezed out of our (especially elementary) schools. I would like to see the many special programs we have strengthened. When students have left brain topics such as math, social studies, and science, reinforced with right brained creativity such as music and art, they are far more likely to truly learn the material. We need to help our schools teach the whole child, which includes PE, art, music and media in every elementary school.
