The Maine Judicial Succession Amendment was on the 1976 ballot in Maine, where it was approved. It was the 132nd constitutional amendment added to the Maine Constitution.

The amendment was legislatively-referred to the ballot by the Maine Legislature.

  • In favor: 331,802
  • Opposed: 105,278

The purpose of the amendment was to "allow judges to hold office up to 6 mos. till successors appointed."
