Campaign themes

Thompson stated the following as his campaign priorities on the Harrison School District Two website:[1]

Security
We cannot educate our kids if we cannot provide a secure atmosphere to conduct that education.

Communication
There are so many different lines of communication in education and it frequently gets confused. Most of the confusion I see is between the teachers, parents and the children. One of my main goals is to eliminate what I call teacher speak. Most of us outside education do not know what an ILP, CSAP, TCAP, SAT, is, which means we need to be much more professional in how we communicate.

Finances
I would never make any claim of understanding finances that is not where any of my knowledge lies. Though I do know a bit about waste and where common sense cuts can be made. I am not afraid to ask the tough questions nor will I settle for answers that do not make sense. As your representative I will make sure every penny of you money is well spent.

Appearance
Schools over the years have become more than a place of education. The school building is the anchor of the neighborhoods that surrounds it. The property values of the homes surrounding the schools are greatly influenced by the schools appearance. As a school district we must have an understanding of that fact and work to maintain our facilities.

Community
School is for the children, and during those hours that's where our concentration must be. However during off school hours we have to maintain a healthy community relationship. Our facilities must be open some public use. Our playgrounds and our sports fields must welcome our children's activities. As a school district we must remember that we are at the service of our children of course, but also our community.
