Carmen Tevis Mullen
Carmen Tevis Mullen is a circuit court judge for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit in South Carolina.[1] She was elected to the court by the South Carolina General Assembly on February 15, 2006.[2] Mullen was re-elected by the assembly on February 4, 2015, and February 3, 2021, for a term expiring in 2027.[3][4]
Education
Mullen received her undergraduate degree in English and speech communications from Indiana University, her master's degree in English from Clemson University, and her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.[5]
Career
Mullen began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable L. Casey Manning of the Fifth Judicial Circuit. She then worked as an assistant public defender at the Charleston County Public Defender’s Office and later as a staff attorney for the South Carolina House of Representatives Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee. In 1998, Mullen went into private practice, and in 2000 she became a partner at the firm of Berry, Tevis and Jordan. Afterwards, she worked as an attorney in her own private practice until her election to the bench in 2006.[5]
