RALEIGH, North Carolina: On May 1, 2013 President Obama nominated United States Congressman Mel Watt to be the next director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.[1]

If Watt is confirmed, a special election will be called.

Watt easily won re-election on November 6, 2012, garnering nearly 80 percent of the vote.
