NJ Gov. Christie withdraws nomination of Assemblyman Carroll

TRENTON, New Jersey: On March 11, 2011, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie withdrew his nomination of Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll to be a Superior Court judge. The decision to withdraw the nomination came as a result of the early decision to nominate Carroll before the New Jersey Bar Association was able to examine him as a prospective judge. The hearing was scheduled for Friday and the Senate had stated that it would not conduct a hearing before it had heard from the Bar Association. At that point Christie opted to withdraw the nomination. While there is still a chance to renominate, Carroll has already announced intentions of seeking re-election. Speaking about the decision, he stated, "Good news and bad news. Bad news for him, and good news for conservatives, who will at least have him still in the Assembly."[1]
