Washington, D.C.: President Barack Obama nominated Judge Bernice Donald to the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. Judge Donald currently serves on the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, a position to which she was nominated in 1995. Regarding her qualifications, the President stated, “Judge Donald has shown an outstanding commitment to public service throughout her career and as a District Judge in Tennessee." Prior to joining the federal court, she worked as a sole practitioner, attorney for the Memphis Area Legal Services, public defender in Shelby County, TN, and judge of the Shelby County Court of General Sessions.
